Local Arts, Crafts, Culture, & Music
Mildura has always been known as a centre for the arts. We have events like the Mildura writers festival, held annually during the winter. There is the Country music festival, held over nine days during the spring. And there are lots of art galleries in the area.
You only have to visit one of the local markets to see that Mildura is full to the brim of extremely talented people. From ceramics to metalwork, artists to photographers, Mildura is a mecca for those with an artist bent. On this page, we search out some of the "arty" things that you can see and do in the area.
So come on a journey with me, and let's explore the artistic side of the Mildura district. Who knows what we'll find? From the well known to the obscure, there are arty stories everywhere - if you're prepared to look for them.
RiverFront Art Gallery
Located on Hugh King Drive beside Jaycee Park (where the Sunraysia Farmers market is held), this little gem is tucked away out of sight to the casual observer. Even some of the locals don't know it's there. The gallery is run by the artists themselves, and has a good range of very reasonably priced original work for sale.

Mallee String Quartet
Here in the Mallee, we are lucky enough to have a talented local string quartet, available for private functions. They won this years (2022) Mildura Eisteddfod Society prize for best open instrumental ensemble. Well done! They play a number of concerts around the region, so if you enjoy quartet music, why not make the effort to attend one of them? You won't be disappointed.

Mildura Arts Centre Gallery
They don't allow photography in the gallery, so I can't bring you any examples of what's on display. But it's certainly worth checking out if you are in the area. The gallery is contained in a number of rooms, with plenty of variety. Bonus... you can combine this with grabbing a coffee at their onsite cafe, and explore the Rio Vista homestead as well.
